Panthers victorious in clash with Trojans

Chris VanKooten grabs the rebound

Phillipsburg senior Chris VanKooten recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points with 10 rebounds and three steals as the Panthers defeated Beloit 52-37 in a non-conference home basketball game on December 19.

“Once again, our defense was key to victory. Beloit was an athletic team with some quality shooters and a big guy in the middle and for us to hold them to only three 2-point baskets the whole game was pretty impressive,” coach Keith Sides commented. Also, we were very active offensive glass, but once again struggled to make close shots. We are only shooting 38% from the field and that needs to improve for us coming back after Christmas.”
