NVJH track results from Husky meet in Logan and Norton Invitational

On April 12, Northern Valley hosted the 33 annual Husky Track Meet in Logan. It was another beautiful day for a track meet. The Husky track team did very well.

The NV 6th grade boys and girls combined points to win the first place plaque. NV scored 195 points followed by Thunder Ridge with 107 and Logan with 98. This was the second year in a row the Husky 6th graders have won the meet. Jeremiah Hansen ran well in the sprints winning three gold medals and set a meet record in the 100m. Brody Preston also had an outstanding day winning three first place medals. Drew Schemper did well in the throws placing second in three events. Kenton Thalheim won a gold medal in the long jump. In the 6th grade girls, Mary Baird won two gold medals in the sprints and was second in the high jump. Braxton Cox threw well winning the discus and placing second in the shot. Austyn Cox placed second in the hurdles.

The NV 7th & 8th grade girls placed 3rd as a team scoring 80 points. Golden Plains was first with 126 points, followed by Logan with 91. Thayz Saenz ran the hurdles well placing first in the 200 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles. Shaylee Vsetecka and Raelea Blecha placed first and second in the pole vault. Aurora Hassermann high jumped well placing second. The girls had a great day in the relays, winning two gold medals and a bronze medal.

The NV 7th & 8th grade boys placed 4th scoring 57 points. Thunder Ridge won the meet with 130, followed by Logan with 123 and Golden Plains with 64. Bailey Sides and Kai Cox placed second and third in the pole vault. Bailey had a personal best in the discus, placing third. Foster Brands improved his hurdle times and placed third in the 200 hurdles and fourth in the 100 hurdles. The Husky relay teams ran well placing second, third and fourth in the three relays.

NV 7th grader Thayz Saenz placed 3rd in the 100m hurdles at the Norton Track meet on April 5.

On April 5, the Northern Valley Jr. High traveled to Norton to compete in the competitive 10 team track meet. It was a beautiful day for the first track meet of the season.

The NV 6th-7th grade boys had a good day scoring 51 points and placing sixth. Foster Brands won a first place medal in the 100m hurdles and the 800m relay team of Hansen, Cox, Brands and Bencomo placed first. Jeremiah Hansen and Brian Bencomo ran well in the sprints placing 4th and 5th in both the 100m and 200m.

The NV 6th-7th grade girls placed 8th as a team. Elle Tharman won a silver medal in the javelin, while Thayz Saenz won bronze in the 100 hurdles. The 400m relay of Saenz, Whitney, Baird and Speer won third place.

The NV 8th grade girls and boys each placed 10th. Bailey Sides had a good day with personal bests in the discus and pole vault. Natalie Kinderknecht and Aurora Hassermann high jumped well placing 4th and 5th.

Northern Valley will host their 32nd annual Husky meet next Thursday in Logan.
