Fort Hays State University announces scholarship awards for 2018-19

HAYS, Kan. – Local students are among the winners of general academic scholarships for the 2019-19 academic year from Fort Hays State University.

This listing includes some students who have won additional scholarships since being recognized earlier for awards presented to them at FHSU Student Recognition Programs from January through March.

Students are listed alphabetically by hometown and ZIP code.

Phillips County Students

Almena (67622): Hallee Linner, a 2018 Southern Valley High School graduate, received a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in social work. Linner, daughter of Roger and Kim Linner, Almena, plans to major in social work.

Glade (67639): Jacob McClelland, a 2018 Phillipsburg High School graduate, received a $1,500 Hays City Scholar Award. McClelland, son of Carla Bruning, Glade, and the late Dennis McClelland, plans to major in physics.
Maggie Shaw, a 2018 Phillipsburg High School graduate, received a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in nursing. Shaw, daughter of J.P. and Wendy Shaw, Glade, plans to major in nursing.

Kensington (66951): Kennedy Rietzke, a 2018 Thunder Ridge High School graduate, received a $1,500 Hays City Scholar Award and a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in art. Rietzke, daughter of Ryan and Tiffany Rietzke, Kensington, plans to major in art.

Kirwin (67644): Noah Peak, a 2018 Phillipsburg High School graduate, received a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in history. Peak, son of Gina Peak, Kirwin, plans to major in history.

Phillipsburg (67661): Gracie Dibble, a 2018 Phillipsburg High School graduate, received a $1,000 Traditions Scholar Award and a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in nursing. Dibble, daughter of Jason Dibble and Kelley Neilson, Phillipsburg, plans to major in nursing.
Joshua Lenker, a 2018 Phillipsburg High School graduate, received a $1,000 Traditions Scholar Award and a $900 Academic Opportunity Award in physics. Lenker, son of Chad and Kristy Lenker, Phillipsburg, plans to major in physics.
Sierra Roth, a 2018 Phillipsburg High School graduate, received a $1,000 Traditions Scholar Award. Roth, daughter of Jerod and Amber Roth, Phillipsburg, plans to major in applied technology.
Kristina Sisson, a 2018 Phillipsburg High School graduate, received a $1,000 Traditions Scholar Award, a $1,000 FHSU Achievement Award, and a $500 Academic Opportunity Award in nursing. Sisson, daughter of Ben and Belinda Sisson, Phillipsburg, plans to major in nursing.

Prairie View (67664): Ryann Kats, a 2018 Logan High School graduate, received a $1,500 Hays City Scholar Award. Kats, daughter of Michael and Shannon Kats, Prairie View, plans to major in communication studies.
