NW District KMEA Announces JH Honor Choir and Band members

The NW District of KMEA has announced students who have been selected to perform with the District Junior High Honor Choir and Band.

After completing a required audition, students selected include: sopranos: Jocelyn Billings, Christina Footh, and Callie Leidig. Singing in the alto section are Audrey Belles, Rayne Russell, and Hallie Jerby. Landon Wyatt, Carsen Meitl, and Taylan Reimer will sing baritone.

Those auditioning for the band submitted a digital recording of required music which was then judged. Chosen for the band in the trumpet section include: Sophia Riffel, second chair, Enae Velardes, sixth chair and Layton Wyatt, eighth chair. In the trombone section, Layton Johnson sits second chair and Aidrian Hassel sits tenth chair. Michael VanDerVeen has been selected as an alternate in the percussion section as well as on malletts.

Kelsey Pinkerton is the vocal instructor and Vesta Jo Still is the band instructor. The students will attend an all day rehearsal on November 2 at Hays High School. The concert will begin at 3:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and students are free.
