On Friday, the Trojans ventured to McDonald to take on Cheylin.
With only 2 quarters to play in the JV girls contest, the Lady Trojans worked hard but came up short 10-15. Freshman Jayla Traxler scored 5. The JV boys also played 2 quarters and won 32-11. The Gottchalk boys again led the charge with Easton scoring 10 and Taden 8.
The varsity girls found themselves up against Taylor McCarty, the number 2 ranked prospect in Kansas for the Class of 2027. After a quick 2-21 first quarter, the Trojans relaxed a bit and played with more confidence. Although they lost 28-66, they played much better in the 2nd half and never gave up, showing great perseverance.
The Cougars gave the Trojans a run for their money in the first quarter as the score was close. The Trojans eventually pulled away and ended the game with a 66-29 win. No varsity stats were available at the time of this article.
The Trojans will take 2 weeks off and will host Oberlin at home on Jan. 3. This will be the first high school basketball game in the new LIFE gym.
