It wasn't a far drive for the Trojans on Tuesday, Jan. 14 as they traveled to Stockton to take on the Tigers.

With no JV girls game, the JV boys took an early lead with a 13-5 score at the end of the 1st quarter. The Tigers came back though and only trailed by 3 at halftime. The Tojans came out of the locker room and spread the gap to 12 by the end of the 3rd and finished with the 52-33 win.

Sophomore Taden Gottschalk seemed unstoppable as he put up 26 points in the contest including 4 3-pointers. Carson Knipp added 11 and Stanley DeWitt 8.

Senior Hailey McClurg and sophomore Breyer Delimont kept things interesting for the varsity match-up as they both scored in double-digits, keeping them on the Tigers' heels throughout the game.

With 1:15 left on the clock, the Lady Trojans were down 5 and cut the lead to 3 with just under a minute to play. They weren't able to get the last points they needed and suffered the 43-48 loss.

McClurg scored 16 with 4 from beyond the arc. Delimont added 14 and 9 rebounds, with Lylah Voss adding 8 boards.

The Trojan boys were up by 5 at the end of the 1st quarter and extended the lead to 16 by half. A 13-2 4th quarter brought the 61-29 final score. Senior Caleb Sparks was hot with 8 jumpers for 17 points and 6 boards. Ethan Gaschler added 7 boards, and Case Ashmore added 7 points. Rhett Kats had a big night with 6 steals, 5 assists, 9 boards and 32 points.

Friday night's games led the Trojans to the Palco to play Weskan. With sickness circulating the western community, the JV girls did not play, and the JV boys were limited to 2 quarters. Easton Gottschalk scored 8 points and led the Trojans to the 20-12 victory.

The Lady Trojans once again had the crowd on the edge of their seats. Neck and neck throughout the game, junior Lylah Voss tied it up at 31 with 3 minutes left on the clock. They took the lead and with 45 seconds left, they were up by a point 33-32. The Coyotes were able to get the ball and score leaving the Trojans with a heart-wrenching 33-34 loss.

Delimont led the charge with 10 points and 7 rebounds while Voss added 9 points and 13 boards.

With the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association ranking Logan-Palco 3rd and Weskan 4th, this was a highly anticipated ball game with a lot on the line for both teams.

Coming off their first loss of the season on Tuesday against Syracuse, Weskan was ready for the 9-0 Trojans. In a very physical contest, a 3-point play from senior Ryan Prewo got the ball rolling, and senior Caleb Sparks brought the heat the Trojans needed to put them up by 4 at halftime.

The Trojans were up by 11 in the third, but the Coyotes led by Trey Allen, who has led the state in scoring in all classes, was not going down without a fight. They came back within 4, but the Trojans prevailed winning 62-56. The tough Trojan defense held Allen to 23 points, shy of his 30-point average. Kats also scored 23 points and Sparks scored a season high of 18.

Next action for the Trojans will be in the Logan LIFE Center gym on Friday, Jan. 24 as they host Northern Valley. Seniors and their parents will also be recognized.
