Logan hosts Wheatland-Grinnell

The Logan-Palco high school basketball teams played their first games of the season in their new gym on Friday, Jan. 10 as they hosted Wheatland-Grinnell.

The JV girls suffered a loss against the Thunderhawks in the first game of the night. JV girls lost to Wheatland-Grinnell 22-15. Jayla Traxler had 5 points.

On the boys side, the game was close during the first half, with the Trojans leading by 2 at halftime. They were able to pull away in the second half and won 29-19. Sophomore Taden Gottschalk led in scoring with 14 followed by Stanley DeWitt with 7.

The Wheatland-Grinnell varsity girls started the game with a 9-3 first quarter, then came out shooting well after halftime pushing the score for the 57-22 win. Sophomore Breyer Delimont led in scoring with 10. Junior Trinity Couse and Sophomore Graci Bliss each grabbed 4 steals, and senior Hailey McClurg tallied 4 assists.

The hot-handed Trojan boys put up a 56-21 win over the Thunderhawks. Senior Ryan Prewo scored on 3 3-point shots for 9 points while senior Kaden Graham scored 8 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Case Ashmore added 7 points. Palco senior Ethan Gaschler also hit the boards hard with 8 rebounds and a sizzling 6 steals. Rhett Kats earned 25 points on the night.
