Are you in need of good vibrations? Our current exhibit, Sonic Sensation, is packed
full of good vibes! This totally interactive exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to
see, feel and hear sound. Visitors can experience our sonic world while exploring
fourteen engaging learning stations. Children and adults alike have been thoroughly
enjoying the opportunity to get loud at the Hansen Museum. The Scream Chamber, a
semi-soundproof chamber, which measures the decibels raised by your scream remains
most visitors’ favorite part of Sonic Sensation. The competition to scream louder than
your companions can get pretty intense and often quite comical. Sonic Sensation will
remain on view through July 28th.

In the Artist of the Month area visitors will find beautiful lathe work and diamond art
during the month of June. Artists Jim and Sherry Kershner (LaCrosse, KS) have created
some gorgeous items that are unique and reasonably priced. One of the most original
items they have in their display are pens made from wood and ammunition casings.
These pens even have a bolt action lever (like on a rifle) to push and lock the refillable
pen cartridge in place. These pens would make a wonderful gift for hunters and fire arm
enthusiasts—stop in to check them out.

There are still a few spots left in the Hansen Museum’s upcoming Joy of Painting class
with Hope Blakely on July 6 th and 7 th . Joy of Painting teaches the Bob Ross Wet-on-Wet
method of painting and is friendly for all levels of painters. Each day, Hope will guide
participants step-by-step in completing a lovely painting. Saturday’s class will paint
“Barn in Fog” and Sunday’s class “Triple Waterfall.” Joy of Painting class is a
wonderful way to try oil painting because all supplies are included with your
registration—participants only need to bring paper towels. Come paint one or both
days! Registration information is available online at www.hansenmuseum.org under the
classes and workshops tab or for more information call 785-689-4846.
