Logan-Palco volleyball has busy week of matches

The Logan-Palco High School volleyball team hosted Cheylin and Decatur Community in a triangular on Tuesday, Sept. 24 in the new LIFE Center gym. In the first set against Cheylin, the Lady Trojans kept the game close, but lost 19-25. The second set proved a bit more tough, and the Trojans lost 8-25. Junior Lylah Voss scored 3 points on kills with Hailey McClurg, Trinity Couse and Hope Couse each adding 2 points. Voss also scored 4 points on 2 solo and 2 assisted blocks. Senior Jolie Kuhn tallied 5 assists and sophomore Breyer Delimont added 4. Senior Hailey McClurg led in service receptions with 9, while senior Sarah Clark added 8 and sophomore Graci Bliss added 7.

The Lady Trojans rallied back in their second match against the Red Devils but couldn't handle the hard hits coming from junior Brylee Minnick who scored 11 kills in the contest. The Trojans lost 21-25, 10-25. McClurg scored on 4 kills, Hope Couse earned 2 blocks and sophomore Cora Ashmore served 2 aces. Kuhn led in assists with 4. Trinity Couse and Graci Bliss bumped up 9 service receptions each.

After a late night of Homecoming activities, Saturday was a big day of volleyball for the Lady Trojans as they traveled to Osborne. In their first match-up against Lakeside. The Trojans won their first set 25-21, but lost the next two sets 17-25, 20-25. Voss led the way with 5 kills and a block, and Trinity Couse added 4 kills. Clark scored on 4 blocks, and McClurg scored on 4 service aces. Kuhn earned 7 assists with Delimont adding 5. Trinity Couse racked up 16 service receptions followed by Bliss with 14 and Voss with 12.

The second match of the day was versus Sylvan-Lucas. The Trojans kept the game fairly close but ended up on the losing side 17-25, 17-25. Delimont scored on 3 kills and 4 blocks. Clark and Voss added 3 blocks each. McClurg scored 3 service aces. She also passed the ball on 12 receptions, and Trinity Couse added 14.

In the next match against Beloit-St. John's, the Lady Trojans lost 12-25, 15-25. Clark scored a huge 5 blocks, and McClurg added 3 points on kills. Kuhn earned 5 assists while Trinity Couse passed the ball on 15 service receptions.

In their last match of the day, the Lady Trojans trailed Osborne 19-25 in the first set but played tough in the second set and lost a nail-biter 30-32! Sarah Clak and Lylah Voss scored 7 and 6 kills respectively. Breyer Delimont scored on 2 blocks and 11 assists. Bliss and McClurg each recorded 12 service receptions.

The Trojans will make the trip to Ransom on Tuesday, Oct. 1 to play Western-Plains and Quinter and then will play in the Mankato tournament on Saturday.
