The Logan High School athletes headed to Palco Friday afternoon, Sept. 27 to attend the Palco Homecoming parade. To celebrate their Rooster teammates, the Logan-Palco football players dressed in their black jerseys. Prior to the game, the coronation ceremony was held with Aiden Karlin and Jolie Kuhn announced as the King and Queen. Following the festivities, the boys took their field for their game against Wheatland-Grinnell.

The Thunderhawks took the Trojans by surprise as the halftime score was only 8-6 in favor of the Trojans after a touchdown run by Mayson Vahling. Penalties plagued both teams as flags flew throughout the night. The Trojans were finally able to score again in the middle of the 3rd quarter as junior Carson Knipp set up the ball close to the endzone, and junior Case Ashmore ran it in for the touchdown. Later in the game, senior Caleb Sparks grabbed a pass for their final score and the 20-6 win on the night.

Sparks had 3 receptions for 60 yards and Ashmore nabbed one for 31 yards. Vahling carried the ball 8 times for 55 yards, an average of 6.9 yards per carry.

The Trojan defense played tough, only allowing 6 points by the competition, and stopping them several times on 4th down. Senior Rhett Kats led the charge with 11 tackles with Sparks adding 9 and sophomore Taden Gottschalk with 7. Kaden Graham, Knipp, and Ashmore each added 5. Sparks, Knipp, and Tye West each tackled a player for a loss in yards, with Brennan Loyd-Counter adding two of these plays. Graham earned a sack, and Sparks caused two fumbles.

The Trojans have enjoyed their schedule thus far with 3 home games and one at Stockton, however, this changes next week as they travel to Dighton to take on the Hornets.
