Weishaar and White's Foodliner earn awards
For the last 10 years, Alec Weishaar has been a fixture at White's Foodliner on weekday mornings. He faces the shelves, greets customers, and helps people find something if they don't know where it's shelved. On Friday, he received an award from DSNWK Employment Connections recognizing his consistent work over the last 10 years.
White’s continues to be a great place for Alec to work! He started there as an 18-21 program high school work study student, and progressed to an employee. His current store managers are Tracey Russo and Tim Warner.
The managers over the years have all been supportive of Alec and his needs. Early on, a former manager used Alec as an example to the other employees about how to treat customers and show a positive attitude every day!!
Tracey called Alec and his mom in during this year and had them go through emergency procedure drills together to be sure Alec understood and was not frightened. She also specifically makes an effort to tell him personally when he gets a raise and when he was eligible to start a retirement account.
The day that the employees all wore the pjs for his birthday was very special to him. Alec loves his job at White’s and always looks forward to going. He demonstrates pride in the work he does and he enjoys interacting with people from the community!! When he shops with his mom on the weekends, he follows her through the store and faces the shelves behind her!!
As a result of Alec's positive experience and White's supportive employment environment, White's Foodliner also received an award on Friday. White's holds the honor of the DSNWK Employer of the Year. Tracey Russo accepted this award on Friday.
