The Logan-Palco boys win the Castle Rock Classic! For the second year, Logan competed in this pre-season tournament held in Quinter. After placing third last year, the Trojans were on a mission to improve their standing. The first round of games were played on Tuesday, Dec. 10 as the Trojans took walloped Wheatland-Grinnell 76-28. Senior Rhett Kats put up a career-high 38 points and 11 steals for the Trojans. Junior Case Ashmore added 11.

Friday's game paired the Trojans with Ellis. While the Trojans led most of the way, the Railroaders came back in the 4th quarter. The Trojan defense and some huge pressure free throws gave the Trojans the 45-39 win. Senior Ethan Gaschler scored 7, Ashmore 8, senior Ryan Prewo 11 and Kats 16.

The 2 wins put the Trojans into the championship game versus #3 state-ranked Dighton on Saturday evening. The Trojans jumped out early, but the Hornets were not going to give up. They came back and tied the game in the 4th quarter. Senior Kaden Graham drained two free throws to seal the deal at the end of the game and gave the Trojans the 39-37 hard-fought win and the championship. Senior Caleb Sparks scored 10 and Kats 18. Gaschler and Kats both earned 9 rebounds.

The Trojans will continue on the road next week as they travel to Mankato on Tuesday and McDonald on Friday.
