Panthers drop touch matchup to Holdrege

On Tuesday, January 7, the Lady Panthers hosted the Holdrege Dusters. Despite their relentless effort and determination, the Lady Panthers fell just short, losing 47-54 in a competitive matchup.

Offensively, the Lady Panthers had a strong showing, with three players scoring in double digits. Junior Chloe VanDerVeen led the way with 12 points, followed closely by seniors Brynn Billings with 11 and Kayla Jacobs with 10. VanDerVeen also led the team in assists with three, while seniors Jenna Storz, Karissa Keeten, and Kayla Jacobs each contributed two assists.

Defensively, the Lady Panthers showed grit, recording six steals and one block. Jacobs led the effort with three steals, while Billings added the team’s lone block. Sophomore Ryleigh Seems dominated the boards, grabbing 10 rebounds, with Billings adding eight more to the team’s total.

In the junior varsity game, the Lady Panthers faced a tough challenge, falling 11-27 in a game shortened to two quarters. Freshman Emalee Russell led the scoring with five points, while junior Natalie Fischer added four. The team impressed on the glass, pulling down a total of 22 rebounds. Sophomore Chloe Jacobs led with seven boards, followed by sophomore Brooke Hanchett with six. Freshman Kelcie Jacobs showcased her court vision with two assists, while Russell and Hanchett each snagged a steal.
