Logan holds annual spelling bee
The Logan School Spelling Bee was held on January 15 in the auditorium.
Thirty-nine spellers took part in the competition. Mrs. Jansonius welcomed everyone to the spelling bee and went over the rules. Mrs. Jackson was the pronouncer, Mr. Gower and Mrs. Kats were the judges, Mrs. Brown was the protest judge, and Mr. Jansonius was the videographer.
After Round 4, twelve spellers remained. They were 8th graders Wyatt Green, Keegan Breese, Clay Grammon, 7th graders Tobin Kats, Greysen Becker, Kinley VanDerVeen, Helen Prewo, Henry States, 6th graders Zoe Tien and Kylah Brumbaugh, 5th graders Aleeah Tien and Treyson Brackney .
Keegan was eliminated in Round 5, Tobin was eliminated in round 6, and Aleeah was eliminated in Round 7. Round 8 saw Helen, Treyson, and Graysen eliminated. Wyatt went out in Round 9, leaving Henry, Zoe, Kylah, Kinley, and Clay. Kylah made it to Round 12, Henry to Round 15, and Zoe to Round 17.
Kinley and Clay then battled for 15 more rounds until Kinley spelled “marksmanship” to become the champion.
Congratulations to Champion Kinley VanDerVeen and Runner-up Clay Grammon.
Other students participating in the spelling bee were 4th graders Maycee Bolt, Sam Desaire, Josie Duncan, Haley Ellenberger, Sophia Joyce, Hunter Kats, Colton Ruff, Summer Shellito, John Voss; 5th graders Clayton Becker, Sutton Breese, Lakin Dougherty, Raelynn Duncan, Brently Ebner, Mia Garcia-Joyce, Conner Gottschalk, Brooklyn Schemper, and Rydge Wyatt; 6th graders Bryson Bolt, Harper Vahling, and Cullen Ware; 7th graders Gunnar Ashmore and Tucker Ellenberger; 8th graders Jeffery Bliss, Weston Ruff, John Sparks, and Hunter Vahling.
This year the County Spelling Bee will be held at Thunder Ridge.
