FHSU 2025 science summer camp registration now open
HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State University’s Science and Mathematics Education Institute (SMEI) is hosting a variety of summer camps for youth entering grades second through eighth. Camps are restricted to a maximum of two per student and they are filling quickly.
All camps run four days per week, Monday through Thursday. Sessions are all three hours each – some in the morning from 9 a.m. to noon and others in the afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m.
This year’s camps include:
GIRLS ROBOT-O-RAMA CAMP, June 2 — 5, Cost $70, Girls entering grades 5 – 8, limited to first 24 registrants. Girls will learn to build, program, and test LEGO robots using LEGO EV3 software.
ROBO CHALLENGE CAMP , June 2 — 5, Cost $70, Students entering grades 5 – 8, limited to first 24 registrants. Students will learn to build, program, and test LEGO robots using LEGO EV3 software.
ENERGY IS EVERYWHERE AM CAMP, June 9 — 12, Cost $70, Students entering grades 2 – 3, limited to first 24 registrants. Students will create circuits, utilize potential & kinetic energy to learn about gravitational energy, let the sun do the cooking and so much more.

WEATHER WIZARDRY AM CAMP, June 23 — June 26, Cost $70, Students entering grades 2 – 3, limited to first 24 registrants. Students will discover weather through experimenting, hands-on activities, and building weather measuring devices.

The registration fee for each camp is $70, and the registration deadline is Wednesday, May 7. Registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis with a maximum of?two?camps per student.
