Phillipsburg Golf finishes first in Smith Center Invite

The Phillipsburg High School golf season kicked off with the Smith Center Invitational on Tuesday, April 2. Though Smith Center was the host team, the tournament was held at Phillipsburg due to the renovations being done at the Smith Center golf course.

Though Phillipsburg had several new members in the lineup, the team competed well overall and finished the meet in first place with a score of 342. Rounding out the top three was Norton in second with 359 and Beloit in third with 387.

Individually, the Panthers placed four in the top ten including newcomer junior Hunter Sisson, who won the tournament with a score of 80.

Other placings for the Panthers included newcomer sophomore Trey Carlson who finished finished third with an 83, junior Avery Jacobs who finished eighth with an 89, sophomore Cole Shelton who finished ninth with a 90, senior Landon Wyatt who tied for eleventh with a 94 and senior Rhett Shelton who tied for eighteenth with a 99.

The Panthers will be back on the course on Tuesday, April 9 when they travel to Osborne.
