Panthers earn home wins on senior night

The Phillipsburg Panthers hosted a dual on Sept. 24, against Smith Center. The night not only served as senior night to honor the eight volleyball seniors, but was also killl breast cancer night.

With a total of $945 from kills throughout the varsity game and raffle money for the pink volleyball, a total of $1100 was donated for the local cancer patients.

The varsity defeated Smith Center in three sets.

The JV and C team both won in two sets.

On Thursday, Sept. 26, the Panthers traveled to Hays to compete against Hays High and Chapman. The Panthers won against Chapman in two sets 25-12, 25-13.

Against Hays High, the Panthers were defeated in three sets.

On Saturday Sept. 28, the JV traveled to Hill City for a tournament. The JV went 5-0 on the day to capture the first place plaque.

The varsity also traveled to Hoisington on Sept. 28. In the first match of the day, they faced Smith Center. The Panthers defeated the Redmen in two sets 25-17, 25-15. The Panthers then faced Otis Bison, where they also won in two sets 25-21, 25-14.

After a lunch break, the Panthers faced a ranked Hoisington team and fell in two sets 24-26, 25-14. The Panthers rebounded against Central Plains to defeat the Oilers 25-20, 25-23. In the final matchup of the day, the Panthers faced St. Johns in a match to determine the second place finishers. The Panthers ended up dropping the match to St. Johns in two sets 25-23, 25-19.

The Panthers will be at Wakeeney on Tuesday, Oct. 1 for a quad with Hill City, Trego and TMP.
