PHILLIPSBURG MUSICIANS SELECTED FOR NW KMEA HONOR ENSEMBLES
The NW District of the Kansas Music Education Association (KMEA) has announced students who have been selected to perform with the District High School Honor Choir, the High School Honor Band and the Elementary Honor Choir. Those auditioning for the band submitted a digital recording of required music which was then judged. Chosen for the band include: Senior Aidrian Hassel, trombone and Jesse Dettmer, percussion. Aidrian will receive a medal for being a four-year participant in the band. He also was a three-year participant in the District Jazz band in November.
After completing a live-audition for both the All-State Choir and the district choir, these students were selected to perform in the district honor choir: pictured, l to r, front row: Senior Hannah Kennedy, Junior Gabriella Poels, Freshman Brayden King, Freshman Lydia Patterson, Freshman Hannah Umbarger, Sophomore Lydia Walker, Sophomore Skyla Russell, Senior Hannah Walker, Freshman Miles Krom. In addition to the high school performances that day, Phillipsburg will be represented in the 5th/6th Elementary Honor Choir. Selected by audition through their teacher, these students have been chosen: pictured, front row, l to r: Haylee Patterson, Emry Hindman, Maci Trammell, and back row, l to r: Walter Swenson and Kensi Krafft.
Megan Krom is the vocal instructor and Vesta Jo Still is the band instructor. The high school students will attend an all day rehearsal on December 7 at Fort Hays State University. The concert will begin at 3:30 p.m. The ? choir begins rehearsal at 8:30 a.m., culminating with a concert at 12:30 pm. Both concerts will be held at the Beach Schmidt Performance Auditorium inside Sheridan Hall on the Fort Hays State University Campus. Admission is $5 which includes both concerts. Students are free.
