Logan Volleyball finishes fifth in WKLL tournament

The Logan-Palco high school volleyball team participated in the WKLL tournament in Colby on Saturday, Oct. 12. The #5 seeded Trojans started their pool play against Western Plains, playing them for the third time in two weeks. Each team with a win under their belt, the Trojans couldn't quite pull off beating them again as they lost in 3 sets 21-25, 25-19, 13-25. Senior Sarah Clark scored 5 kills followed by Breyer Delimont and Lylah Voss each with 4. Voss scored 3 ace serves as well as 2 blocks. Delimont had 12 assists. Trinity Couse tallied 19 service receptions with Hailey McClurg adding 14.

The Trojans lost their next pool play game versus Wheatland-Grinnell 18-25, 16-25. In the tough match, Delimont scored 3 kills and 3 assists. Senior Jolie Kuhn scored 2 ace serves. Voss marked 2 blocks, and Couse had 7 service receptions.

The Trojans took on Triplains-Brewster in the third round of pool play, which they won handily 25-9, 25-13. McClurg led the way with 5 of 7 kills for 71% accuracy, and Kuhn served 4 aces. Couse put up 4 service receptions followed by McClurg, Clark and Graci Bliss each with 3.

In bracket play, the Trojans faced the #6 seeded Northern Valley in a tight match. The Trojans lost the first set 17-25, but battled back for the nailbiter win 26-24, 25-23 and the 5th place finish in the tournament. Delimont and Voss each scored 5 kills with Kuhn adding 4 kills and 3 serving aces. Clark and Couse both earned solo blocks. Delimont and Kuhn each recorded 8 assists. Couse and Bliss dominated the serve receiving category with Couse earning 14 and Bliss with 13.

The Logan-Palco Trojans will move into Regional tournament play seeded #8. Stay tuned for details about the time and location.

The Logan-Palco Trojans will play in Palco on Tuesday, Oct. 15 as they host Northern Valley and honor the seniors on Senior Night. The matches will begin at 4:30.
