The Logan-Palco Trojans pulled off a close one against Wallace County on Friday, Oct. 18 as they traveled to Sharon Springs.

A 40-yard run by quarterback Rhett Kats set up the first score of the night, but the Wildcats answered quickly and scored on their conversion leaving the score 6-8. On the next Logan drive, senior Kaden Graham snatched the long pass and ran it to the endzone for a 52-yard play and the touchdown. Again, the Trojans couldn't convert on their conversion, and the Wildcats scored quickly with 4 minutes left in the half. A 33-yard pass to Caleb Sparks along with another short pass to Sparks put 6 more points on the board, and a third pass to Sparks gave them the conversion. Once again the Wildcats fired back and with under a minute left in the half, they scored again leaving the score 20-22 at half.

The passing game continued to be successful for the Trojans as big passes to Graham and Sparks brought the score to 26-22 in the third quarter. Neither team got much offense going in the remainder of the 3rd and 4th quarters, but the end of the game had everyone on the edge of their seats. With the final minutes remaining in the game, and Wildcat ball close to their endzone, the Trojan defensive line put up a goal line stand for 4 downs! This held the Wildcats out of scoring position, and the Trojans were able to hold on for the 26-22 win.

Junior Case Ashmore moved into the running back position and ran the ball for 49 yards on 17 carries and snagged two passes for 12 yards. Graham had 3 receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown followed by Sparks for 80 yards on 5 receptions and 2 TDs. Kats scored once and rushed for 71 yards on 12 carries and completed 11 out of 17 passes for 198 yards.

Defensively, Ashmore and Carson Knipp each made 10 tackles, while Kats had 11. The 6-1 Trojans will make the 3-hour trek to Deerfield on Friday, Oct. 25.
