Glitter is indeed the gift that keeps on giving! Last Wednesday, we hosted our Kindergarten friends at the Museum for a delightful afternoon of holiday crafting. Embracing the Christmas spirit, we assisted our young guests in spreading holiday cheer by creating personalized Christmas ornaments. Each ornament turned into a unique masterpiece, lovingly painted and adorned with glitter for that extra festive sparkle.

To make these ornaments even more special, we captured a joyful moment by taking a photo of each child in front of the Museum’s stunning Christmas tree, which was then incorporated into their ornament. It was a truly enjoyable afternoon filled with creativity and laughter alongside our Kindergarten friends.

A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Van Laeys and her dedicated helpers for bringing the students to the Museum. We eagerly anticipate seeing everyone again next month! And be prepared—you might still spot some glitter from your last visit!

Although Wednesday’s fun was a hard act to follow, Thursday evening we had the pleasure of hosting Anna Schremmer’s Bierock Class. It was a delicious evening filled with hands-on learning! After covering the basics of bread making, participants partnered up to create their own batch of homemade bread dough. Working in pairs was fantastic, as sharing the workload made mixing by hand much easier.

Once all the ingredients were incorporated, the kneading began. Breadmaking can seem intimidating, but with Anna’s expert step-by-step instructions, it felt quite simple. Learning to recognize the signs for moving on to the next step in the process was particularly helpful. While our bread dough was proofing, Anna taught us how to prepare the savory filling for these delightful German treats and how to assemble them.

Next, the class moved on to building their bierocks. Each participant divided the dough into equal segments, rolled it out, measured out the delicious filling, and sealed them according to Anna’s guidelines. Participants left with 12 bierocks ready for the oven. The timing of this class was perfect—having ready-made meals for holiday guests is incredibly convenient!
