The Hansen Museum is pleased to congratulate five Logan households for winning the 2024 Deck the House Holiday Decorating Contest: Coy & Nathalia Leggett, David & Donna Kirkendall, Bryant & Kyra Reese, Daniel & Aubrey Ruff, and Toby & Theresa Shellito. Each winner received $100 in Logan Bucks and a special yard sign declaring their property a Deck the House Winner. We would like to thank all Logan households who took the time to decorate their properties for Christmas. Your efforts helped spread holiday cheer, and we look forward to enjoying more magical displays during the 2025 Christmas season.
Thomas Zimmerman, the artist behind our current exhibition Kansas from 400’ or Less, will be at the Museum on January 11th at 7:00 p.m. for a Meet the Artist event. Join us for an in-depth look at Zimmerman’s fascinating venture into drone photography. He will share the adventures behind capturing some of his favorite shots, which are featured in the gallery. For the Kansas from 400’ or Less project, Zimmerman completed an impressive 342 aerial flights, covering 159 miles and logging 57 hours of flight time. Along the way, he faced challenges, including 112 failed photographs and three crashes, one of which resulted in a dramatic incident where the drone was submerged in water and had to be repaired by the manufacturer. We invite you to come enjoy an evening with Thomas. Refreshments will be served.

The Beginners Dance Class, held from 2 to 3 p.m., covers the Two-Step, Swing, and Waltz. The Intermediate Dance Class, from 3 to 4 p.m., builds on these basic steps by introducing the Polka, Cha Cha, and Rumba. For those at an advanced level, the class from 4 to 5 p.m. focuses on East and West Coast Swings and incorporates advanced patterns into the other dances. Participants must be at least 13 years old, and pre-registration is required. Those interested can review class details and register online at www.hansenmuseum.org under the Classes and Camps tab.
