Logan-Palco ends playoff run with loss to Hutch Central Christian
Breaking through two tackles, senior Mayson Vahling picks up more yardage on the play against Hutch Central Christian on Thursday. Mayson ended the year with 575 rushing yards along with 176 receiving yards for 11 touchdowns.
The road to the playoffs did not take the Logan-Palco Trojans where they wanted to go with a 6-48 loss to Hutch Central Christian on Thursday, Nov. 7.
With the pressure of their first playoff game in 22 years, the 3-1/2 hour road trip and the quick change from a scheduled Friday night game to Thursday night, the Trojans came out flat from the beginning of the game.
While the Trojans struggled to get their feet under them, the Cougars scored twice in the first quarter.
The Trojans felt a glimmer of hope late in the 1st quarter with a 53-yard pass to Case Ashmore who ran it in for the score. Unfortunately, that was the only score for the Trojans as the Cougars continued to rack up the points.
After last week's 2nd half rally against Ashland, the Trojans held hope that they could turn things around after halftime, but weren't able to do so. Even with the loss, the Trojans finished their season with an 8-2 record, the best season Logan has had since before these players were born!
Senior Caleb Sparks caught 4 passes for 58 yards. Junior Carson Knipp ran for 37 yards, while senior Mayson Vahling ran for 44 yards. Senior Rhett Kats ran for 49 yards and threw for 147 yards. Several players contributed defensively with Sparks and senior Ryan Prewo with 5 tackes, followed by Ashmore with 6, Knipp with 8 and Kats with 10.
The Trojans would like to thank the Logan community and members of the fire department for the send-off and the many wonderful fans who made the trip to Hutchinson for the game.
